The following zines and magazines (online and in print) are devoted to reviewing zines.
Broken Pencil: the Magazine of Zine Culture and Independent Arts. Toronto, ON
This Toronto based Zine review magazine is published quarterly and is available in print and online. Reviews are authored by their readership and include many Canadian publications. The website posts a new review each month (zine of the month) and archived reviews may be searched by issue, region, zine title or keyword.
New Pages Zine Rack. New Pages. Bay City, MI
New Pages reviews and promotes alternative publishing. The Zine Rack Column aims to provide libraries and booksellers with reviews of established zines that are published on a semi-regular basis. Sean Stewart is the sole reviewer providing detailed reviews, including cover pictures and contact information. Reviews may be searched in the cumulative zine index alphabetically by title or by column (columns consist of approximately 10 reviews and are created near-monthly).
Xerography Debt. Leeking Inc. Baltimore, MD
Davida Gypsy Breir has been pubishing xerography debt since 1999. Xerography Debt is primarily a review zine aimed towards other zine readers and is available in print as well as online (select an issue to read the contents). There are at approximately 12 regular reviewers reviewing as many zines in each issue. Zine World: A Reader's Guide to the Underground Press. Murfreesboro, TN
Zine World is available in print (4 times a year). Each issue holds more than 300 reviews by various volunteer reviewers. A limited selection of reviews are available online. Ordering information is available here.
The Zine Yearbook: A Year in the Life of the Underground Press. Toledo, OH
Since 1995, Jen Angel and Jason Kucsma have annually created this anthology featuring the best that the underground press had to offer from the previous year. Bookmouth.com 2001 interview with Jen Angel.
